“Pretty Little Consequence” is the second single release from the Hustle album. It opens with a phasing bass line written by Andrews complemented by Laursen’s wicked guitar licks. Brooks’ tight drum hits pair with the bass line to give the song a walking feel. King sets the lyrical tone to nihilistic with opening line, “There ain’t no point in looking for an explanation.” He contemplates the futility of his own existence and his decision to avoid breeding in the face of a timeless universe. Woods brings in the chorus with a bluesy guitar rhythm over which the title of the track is crooned. After another verse and chorus, rather than break into a standard bridge, Andrews lays down a descending bass line that is matched by King’s sax. The end of the song, conceived by Woods, slows and offers a pretty, calm beauty that contrasts the troubled lyrics.

Came up slow, taken us eons to get here. Now the cracks begin to show, singularity is getting ever nearer. Evolutionarily we jumped the shark our season is over. History shows us proof of our consistently repeated disasters.
